As designers, we’re always looking for ways to sharpen our skills,
but what if learning felt more like play? Whether you want to train
your eye for typography, boost color-matching skills, or refine UX
decisions, these games offer a fun way to improve while taking a
break from work.
UI User Inyerface
This game it’s an engaging challenge that explores user
interactions and design patterns. To play, you just have to
complete the form as quickly and accurately as possible… without
driving you crazy haha
Can’t Unsee
UX/UI are popular terms these days, and while there are
differences between them, combining good practices from both
results in excellent design and top-notch user experience.
This game allows you to practice your skills and improve your
expertise in UX/UI design.
I Shot The Serif
Think you can quickly tell the difference between serif and
sans-serif fonts? This fast-paced game challenges your
typography knowledge under time pressure.
Kolor
According to a study by National Geographic
men and women perceive colors differently, with women often
being better at identifying shades and hues.
This game challenges you to match colors as closely as possible
to the sample in the shortest time. Personally, I find it nearly
impossible past round 20.
KernType
Kerning refers to the space between letters in text, adjusted to
ensure optical consistency. It’s quite challenging to get it
right.
Here’s a game to practice and perfect your kerning skills.
Logo Quiz
Similar to the previous game, Logo Quiz features 26 squares,
each representing a letter of the alphabet and a famous brand.
The goal is to identify each brand by its logo or part of it in
its original color. Do you think you can guess them all?
The Bézier
Want to learn vector drawing? This game is essentially a
tutorial for drawing various shapes and will help you master the
Pen Tool. Sharpen your skills as each shape becomes increasingly
complex.
Pixactly
This is one of my favorite games. All you need to do is draw a
box to the given dimensions and see how close you are to the
actual size. Your score will be based on your accuracy, with
lower scores being better. The game’s interactions are
guaranteed to make you laugh, whether you get it right or wrong.
Shape Type
In this game, you need to adjust vector shapes of letters to
closely match the original font. It’s very fun but much harder
than it sounds.
Font Game
Do you, like me, collect countless fonts just because they look
nice and you might use them someday? If so, you’ll enjoy this
game.
The challenge is to identify the font used in a text from four
options. Correct answers will be acknowledged, and incorrect
ones will continue to present new choices until you get it
right.
I hope you had a good time. And if you liked the post, don’t forget
to share it with your friends.
